Join instructor Daniela Steiner on April 27 for an intro to woven darns!
Your favorite sweater/ sock/ shirt/ pair of pants has a hole.
Don't despair- this is your chance to turn it into a project of creative repair! 2025 is the year of sustainability!
We will have swatches to practice on and all the tools and materials you need, including needles to take home with you to continue your mending journey!
In addition to your garments to mend, you can bring any needles, yarn, or snips that you would like.
If you don't have anything to mend, you can practice the techniques on the practice swatches.
If you have a darning loom, you can bring it and we will discuss how to use it, but you absolutely do not need one to participate in the class. (In case you're wondering, "what even is a darning loom?" there will be a couple examples at the shop during the workshop.)
No experience is required.
You might not have time to finish a whole project, but you will leave with the knowledge and enthusiasm to continue at home.
Before the class:
- Examine your socks and sweaters to find thin spots and holes. You can also use this technique on a woven garment. You'll probably be happier if you start by working a on a hole that's no more than an inch or two.
- Please wash your garments before mending- they'll be easier and more pleasant to work on.
